Jazz-o-Tech heads into 2024 with a wealth of new music lined up, the first of which is a new EP from Resonances (IT). The four-track release showcases the Italian's unique fusion of techno with his formal musical skills. Resonances is Leonardo Biscioni, an artist who spent 10 years studying guitar at Siena Jazz School while also falling in love with techno. It is working in electronic music that he feels most free, exploring techniques and texture, groove and rhythm with a mix of synths, outboard gear and drum machines as well as his understanding of real chords and keys. He has released on the likes of Marco Farone's UNCAGE
and the legendary KMS and shows his skills once more here.
'Cynetic' is a tense and original collision of techno energy and freeform melodies. Hammering hits keep the pressure up while squealing leads fizz about next to wonky keys and twisted metal sounds make for a mind-blowing trip full of unpredictable drama. 'Perception' is built on supple techno drums and bass and overlaid with more unhinged synths and edgy keys. It's another avant-garde proposition that will stand
out in any setting.
'Unusual' has a positive and uplifting spirit thanks to the bright xylophone-style melodies that shimmer brightly above the broken beats. It's a perfect mix of the organic and the synthetic and a track that is always on the move. 'Voyager' places raw and expressive jazz sax front and centre for maximum impact over tribal, percussive beats which demand you move.
Resonances (IT) explores plenty of brand-new jazz-techno territory on this superb new EP
